Nobel laureate, Prof Wole Soyinka, has said Nigeria’s educational system is nothing to write home about. He spoke on Sunday at the University of Lagos, Akoka, during the presentation of a play, ‘Folly of Men.’ The event was part of activities commemorating the 90th anniversary of the Government College, Ibadan (GCI). According to the prolific playwright and activist, education in Nigeria is horrific, adding that the country is in trouble. Soyinka, while fielding questions from journalists, commended the GCI Old Boys Association for organising the programme. He said the country’s education was nothing to write home about. “We are in serious trouble, education-wise in this country. Let me not kid you; it’s horrifying. That was why I was happy about the initiative of creating a model school and trying to resurrect this Government College and present it as the ideal. A police sergeant has died a sad death after being beheaded by armed robbers who attacked NNPC mega station. Armed robbers on Saturday attacked Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) mega station in Ilorin, the Kwara state capital. According to The men of the underworld were said to have struck when staffers of the station had left for their respective homes. During the bloody incident, the armed robbers allegedly beheaded a sergeant and some security personnel attached to the fuel station. It was also gathered that the robbery incident occurred while the security men were already asleep. Checks on Sunday revealed that the NNPC mega station was under lock and key, throwing residents into panicky situation that another round of fuel scarcity was imminent. Spokesperson of the state police command Ajayi Okasanmi confirmed the incident. He added that the “information is true jare. But the command is investigating the issue.” Drop your comments here

Imagine borrowing your friend’s car to Club and EFCC takes it away  It was a rough night for club goers in the early hours of today in Osogbo, Osun State as officials of  EFCC  went on a massive raid at different nightclubs. The clubs allegedly raided include  Club Secret ,  Green Arcade  and  River Side . Nigerian comedian, Kenny Blaq has revealed his mother died while he was busy hosting a wedding ceremony. Kenny Blaq, a popular Nigerian singer and comedian, is undoubtedly one of the most sought after entertainers in Nigeria at the moment. Beyond the glitz and glamour that comes with his job, the comedian stated that life had also dealt him some terrible blows. In an encounter with Sunday Scoop, he said; “I was anchoring (hosting) a wedding when my mother died. I had to finish the wedding first (before I could do anything). It was crazy for me but the work had to be done. The experience can be compared to that of a surgeon conducting a surgery and suddenly hears bad news. The surgeon will have to complete the surgery. Popular Nollywood actress, Funke Akindele recently shared a glimpse of her twin boys watching television on her Instagram page. The movie producer-only showed their back view as she is yet to reveal their faces. Taking to the photo-sharing platform, Akindele-Bello shared a Boomerang video of her boys watching a cartoon. We recall Google had revealed that “Funke Akindele pregnancy” had dominated search phrases in Nigeria. The actress welcomed twin boys with her husband, JJC Skillz in December 2018. On this day, millions of women leave their bras at home to promote the cause of breast cancer awareness and remind women everywhere that they should get screened for breast cancer on a regular basis. It’s also a day when people rally to raise much need money for breast cancer research. This day is celebrated without a bra because many women who have survived breast cancer can no longer go without wearing a bra because they need it to hold their prosthesis in place after undergoing surgery. Some suspected cultists identified as Aye-axe men have attacked popular hiphop artiste, Omoniyi Temidayo Raphael, also known as Zlatan Ibile after his show at DonRecky Hall, Newark, New Jersey, U.S. The cultists wearing blacks with some dark glasses were seen punching the popular artiste while  Zlatan  is seen struggling to wrestle his way out together with efforts of some men suspected to be body gaurds attached to him. In a video which captured the attack, a yet to be identified man was shouting on top of his voice in Yoruba beneath the video that “ won fe pa Zlatan o ”; they are beating Zlatan while a lady was also yelling too. CDQ  has lashed out at  MI Abaga  in the most ridiculing manner. It appears there is about to be another beef to come in the Nigerian Hip-Hop industry as CDQ looks to have taken a serious jibe at MI. If you could recall, you would remember MI used CDQ as a bait in connecting a particular line on his diss track, “The Viper”  for Vector. A group known as APC Mandate Defenders has reacted to online reports which claimed that the Hon. Minister of Finance, Budget and National Planning, Hon. Mrs. Zainab Shamsuna Ahmed will be getting married to President Muhammadu Buhari. The group described the news as fake and fallacious. In a message sent to newsmen, the National Publicity Secretary of the group, Mr. Ifeanyi Emeka said there is no any marriage between Mr. President and any of his female ministers let alone the Honourable Minister of Finance who is happily married with responsible children.
